  • Karl Henning holds a B.Mus. with double major in composition and clarinet performance from the College of Wooster (Ohio); a M.A. in composition from the University of Virginia (Charlottesville); and a Ph.D. in composition from the University of Buffalo, where he studied with Charles Wuorinen and Louis Andriessen. His music has been played and sung on three continents (North America, Europe and Australia), and there is unconfirmed rumor that uncoöperative youngsters in Sardinia have done some deliberately irregular algebra homework on the reverse of the Henning organ Toccata. Since January of this year, Karl has completed a piece for double wind quintet, The Young Lady Holding a Phone in Her Teeth; music to accompany real-time fine-art painting, for wind quartet and fixed media; and is presently completing a trio for flute, viola & harp for Ensemble Aubade, and a Sonata for clarinet & piano.
